Point of Sleat

A superb paddle this weekend on the Isle of Skye with friends.

We had glorious weather, but I can't help feeling sorry for the folk who are at the Jersey symposium where I believe the blue skies are in short supply.

Hello Simon, The Jersey symposium was dogged by high winds, torrential rain, blazing sunshine and dead calm. Due to the compact nature of the island I paddled 5 full days including a day out to the exposed Ecrehous reef half way to France. The Jersey CC laid on a really excellent set of paddling events despite the weather, they were wonderful hosts.

I wish you fair weather for the Scottish Kayak Trail. I am hopefully going to St Kilda in the next week, if I can get rid of a bad dose of gastro enteritis caused by eating a dip which had been incubating in the car in hot Jersey sun :o(

Hi Douglas,

When I was back in computer range I read all your posts about the symposium - sounds like a great time despite the heavens.

Thanks for the good wishes, and best of luck getting over your bug. St Kilda was on our list for this summer but the trail got in the way. Next year perhaps? (Always it's next year...)

Hi Simon,
A bit late I know but...... isnt that Gavin & Shauna..... ? I had the pleasure of having them as guinea pigs for my 4 star assesment with Gordon Brown in May:-) If you get a chance could you pass on my email address to them ? I have some pictures from our time on the water together. They really are
